I am a sociologist working at Umeå University in northern Sweden. My research is predominantly about the politics of environmental protection, economic globalization, and social dis/trust. Much of my work is motivated by irritation that humanity could be doing so much better at solving problems that need not actually be hard to solve.
Originally from Vancouver, Canada, I started at Umeå in September 2017, after a decade at Bristol University in the UK. I received PhD and MA degrees in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA from the University of Victoria. I've also had the good fortune to spend time as a researcher in Mexico, Italy, Washington DC, Ottawa, and Barcelona.
